Below is a list, in alphabetical order, containing a short introduction to the hotels in Galway city. These hotels are the main hotels located either within Galway city or a short distance from the city center.

 

Ardilaun Hotel

Located at Taylor’s Hill, the Ardilaun Hotel, Conference Centre and Leisure Club is a well-established, family-owned four star hotel. The hotel is set on its own grounds just about a mile form Galway city center. The hotel has 125 bedrooms, spacious lounges and beautiful gardens. The hotel also contains the Camilaun restaurant and Blazers Bar & Bistro. Facilites include a great leisure club, Avalon beauty salon as well as conferencing and banqueting facilities. There is a business center and free car parking.

Best Western Flannery’s Hotel

This hotel can be found on the Dublin Road to the east of Galway city centre, just beyond Lough Alalia. Now a member of Best Western Hotels, Flannery’s is a long-established Galway hotel. Recently refurbished, the three star hotel has 134 modern bedrooms as well as a restaurant and bar. There is free wi-fi throughout the entire hotel as well as extensive, free car parking.

ClaytonHotel

This hotel is a four star located at the eastern boundary of Galway city in the Ballybrit area. It is close to Galway airport and the Ballybritt Racecourse, which is home to the famous Galway races which take place each year in August. The hotel has 195 bedrooms, conference facilities and a large ballroom. The hotel also has a restaurant called Tribes and the Enclosure Bar. The hotel also has a leisure centre containing a 20m pool, sauna and steam room.

Eyre Square Hotel

This three star hotel is located right in the heart of Galway city just two minutes walk from both the railway and bus stations. It is to be found on Forster Street adjacent to Eyre Square itself. All rooms are en-suite with satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel offers food and breakfast in Le Bistro restaurant and has a popular bar called Red Square Bar which is one of the liveliest in Galway. There is also a nightclub called Coyotes.

Forster Court Hotel

Located in Forster Street adjacent to Eyre Square, this three star hotel is located right in central Galway. All 48 bedrooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard and have complimentary wi-fi. The hotel has a restaurant called The Elwoods Grill offering a range of Irish and international dishes and the Forster Court Bar which offers cocktails and tapas on Fridays.

G Hotel

This five star hotel was created by well known Irish milliner, Philip Treacy. The G hotel overlooks Lough Alalia and Galway Bay. The hotel has been created for both the business and leisure traveller and offers surroundings in a sophisticated style. The hotel was awarded one of the top three hotels in the world by Condé Nast Traveller Magazine in 2009 and was voted the number one hotel in Ireland by Travel and Leisure. Matz restaurant at the G offers contemporary Irish cooking with a Continental influence, whilst the cocktail bar at the G offers the chance to unwind and mix in sumptuous surroundings.

Galway Bay Hotel

This four star hotel is located in Salthill which is the seaside area of Galway. Whilst it takes about twenty minutes to walk into the centre of Galway, this hotel is located right on the promenade of Salthill, overlooking the famous Galway Bay and the area’s blue flag beach. Many rooms have sea views and all have complimentary broadband access. There is a pool, steam room and gymnasium and the Calmer Waters beauty salon. The Lobster Pot restaurant offers international cuisine with seafood specialities. There is also the harvest Café and a bar called An Scadán Caoc.

Glenlo Abbey Hotel

This five star hotel is located in the Bushypark area just 4km outside Galway city going north on the N59. The hotel is on an 18th Century estate with a lakeside golf course. All 46 rooms in the hotel are de luxe standard. Various dining options are offered and guests can choose between The Pullman Restaurant aboard the Orient Express, the River Room Restaurant or the Oak Cellar Bar. Glenlo Abbey Hotel was the 2010 Winner of Good Eating Guide ‘Best Restaurant in Connaught’.

Hotel Meyrick

This is a luxurious four star hotel located right on Eyre Square in the heart of Galway city centre. The hotel first opened its doors to guests in 1852 and is a combination of old world charm and modern amenities. The hotel has 99 bedrooms in a mix of Standard and Executive rooms and Junior and Executive suites. The hotel offers food to suit all tastes in its Oyster Grill restaurant as well as the Parlour Lounge and Fagan’s. There is also the Oyster Bar to relax and enjoy a drink. Level 5 is the name of the Hotel Meyrick’s spa facilities which offers a wide range of treatments.

Pillo Hotel Galway

This four star hotel was formerly known as the Courtyard Marriott Galway. It is in Headford Point near the end of the main N6 road into Galway. It is within walking distance of Eyre square. The hotel has 104 rooms with high speed Internet access as well as a fitness suite and health spa. The hotel has a restaurant called the Olive Tree Bistro and the Point Bar is popular with locals and residents alike.
